Plan for the Obstacles
Here we are. Tuesday will be a week in on our 30 day Create the Change Challenge. How's it going for you? Still going strong?I hope you have printed out the plan and have your goal right in front of you so you can see it each morning when you begin your day. Beginning the day, you think about at least ONE thing you will do to move you close. WRITE IT DOWN! Also knowing what you want to see change, the results, your why is extremely important. I also find that oftentimes the results or the changes we expect or anticipate are only part of the goodness. Depending on the habit, I'll bet that each week you will see other small "by products" of the actions you are doing as you move forward. Keep that in mind, and think about being open to noticing. (More about that later!)
This week, I want to focus on the Obstacles, or the problems that will crop up. There will be some days or some weeks that every single thing will be trying to trip you up. It might feel like you have some little evil demon set out to get you and totally get you off track. That's why you have to be ready for him. You have to plan for what you will do if you see him come your way.If you saw my Insta story going over our roadmap, you'll remember that I said we were going to talk about this.Say you are aiming to walk 30 minutes each day. On Sunday night you look at your calendar. Your Tuesday is slammed with work all day then you have your son's baseball game. That might look like a problem. What will you do? This is when you'll have to get a little creative. Can you walk before work? Can you walk around the ballpark between dropping your son for batting practice and the game begins? If you are giving up alcohol during the week (or for the 30 days) and you have a cocktail party on the calendar, a girls night our or barbecue, think ahead of how you will navigate the events. Giving up sugar and your Mom's birthday is right in the middle of the challenge? If you are working on those boundaries, you know the triggers and you need to be ready. For me? Becoming unattached to my phone means I put it in my bathroom at night. I read before I look at the phone. When I have downtime I plan to work on some of my other projects so I can't get distracted with my phone. Plan for these things! You'll find it gets easier BUT you'll also find that each week will bring a new little problem or sometimes even a big one that will try to make things hard for you. But that's okay because you know to make a plan for them. Also, even more importantly, remember we are moving forward NOT giving up when we aren't perfect. If you have a piece of your mom's birthday cake, remember that you didn't eat the whole cake and you are still doing a great job of creating change.Loving the DMs, texts and messages! Let me hear from you . . .what do you notice, what changes do you see, how are you moving forward?Have a great week!
