How to Make Health a Priority

Hey there!  I'm coming to you in a bit of shock that it is already December 12.  Our tree just went up and is not fully decorated.  This is the latest it has ever been and it was actually stressing me out a little . . .something that my sons did not grasp.  And it is silly to let that bring on any amount of angst, but I DO LOVE this time of year and just want to feel and be festive, right?  And, isn't there something so fun and heartwarming about the ritual of unwrapping the special ornaments, as well as the good memories they bring, as you place them on the tree?   This will not be a Holiday post but I feel compelled to share a bit of spirit.Next, I want to tell you that this will be one of our LAST posts before we launch our new site.  I've hinted around that new things are coming, with  a new look, as well as asking you to subscribe if you want to continue getting my updates and newsletter, so I  hope you will follow along and keep visiting!Recently, on an instagram story I polled whether folks would rather know  more about learning how to make health a priority OR how to be more resilient.  The health questions won out by a pretty big margin.  For that reason, I want to talk a little about that today and how I have taught this with some of my clients.A couple of days ago, I was to be on thrilled to participate on a panel at the UGA Terry School of Business Professional Women's Conference, which was such a fun experience with truly amazing women.  My participation was about incorporating a healthy lifestyle  into our  work, career and life and the importance of doing so.  I also talked about my own take on health, what it is, what it isn't and how my view and experience has changed over the years. We all have different backgrounds, experiences and stories that create our understanding and views on health in general.  As we grow, change, and navigate different seasons and challenges,  our definition of health and how we strive to live healthy can change . . . sometimes more than once or twice.  And that's okay. It's actually a good thing. But, the one thing that does not change is the importance of making health a priority. If you do not consider your health and wellbeing, who will?  No one is going to swoop down and instill the habits, the knowledge and the choices into you.  That is up to you and, yes, it matters.  I want to step back for just a second though, to emphasize that, to me, health is so much more than what you eat and when and how you move your body.  Your health is the totality of how you treat yourself, how you nurture your body with good, whole foods, instilling some form of movement and exercise into your routine and also nurturing your mind and your soul with healthy, positive messages and education, challenging yourself to continue learning and growing and adding rituals and habits that make you feel good, energized and full of vitality.  It's about what you can do to create longevity to fully experience this one, big, beautiful life you have been blessed with.  That is how you create a healthy lifestyle.Whew.  Totally getting off of my soapbox now. With that in mind, if you are placing yourself on the back burner and having a hard time putting your health above the other work, people, and habits in your life, then let's do a little digging.  As with any change, it takes some work.  There are some questions you have to ask yourself.  And, yes, you have to answer honestly.  I have created a PDF document you can print and use to answer the questions and help build your best steps to place your health as a priority and keep it there.  It is an exercise you can come back to again and again as you add new habits and create new practices OR if you feel yourself falling back into "putting your health at the bottom" mode.I would love to hear how this works for you, any progress and any and all questions as you work on making your health a priority.  AND don't wait until January 1 to start!  Begin here and now and be that much ahead come the New Year!Click below for your guide to making your health a priority.  Be honest with your answers and keep it when you need a reminder!
